Creating PBR material from a 3d scan

Hello! I've found a 3d scan, which I'd like to use in my project. The first question is: can I use a 3d scan, made by someone and which I can download for free for personal non commercial use?

The other question is I understand how to make retopology, good UVs (original are messy) and bake normals. Are there any way to get PBR textures from the texture from the scan? I can bake it from the scan to the new mesh, but it's only one map where all channels are "merged" together. Or It's better not to show off and just create a new texture using existing one as a reference?

Hey there :)

Well, if its free to download and if you are indeed allowed to use it as personal non commercial use...I guess it's just fine.
Make sure to make proper credits if you show it anywhere though. And if you are not sure about it, you can eventually contact the author of the uploaded model and ask it him/her :)

For the texturing stuff: Just my personal opinion here, but I'd say create it by your own and use the existing textured model as a reference. That way you implemented something of your own and perhaps it can save some time as well (rather than cleaning up and trying to match the existing stuff) :enlightened:
