Where can I find out weapon dimensions?

Hello everyone!

I have made weapons before and while I used blueprints and reference images, they were mostly made with eyeballing. After Tim's AKM tutorial I decided to make my weapon dimensions as exact as possible.

I am making a Remington 870 and I can't for the life of me find the receiver dimensions, especially the width. I want make the receiver as exact as possible because I am going to use it as a reference for the other parts. Can anyone give me a hand?

Thank you!

Hey there :)

That's indeed quite a challenge sometimes, usually what I do is checking the manufacturer's website to see if I find anything,
unfortunately they update the websites sometimes by adding new products and removing older ones so...from there I'd say look out for forums etc,
or simply do some googling for "(gun name) dimensions", which you probably already did, so another search you could do is " (gun name) specifications", as some websites put the dimensions under the general specification information tab. Here's an example where you see the total length: https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/reming ... on-shotgun

The width is to my opinion indeed kinda hard to find out, so until today I mostly eyeballed the width as well. On one hand I think it's absolutely good to model it super accurate in each dimension,
on the other hand I think it's also good to develop your eyeand feel for depth, 3D forms, and most of all not limiting yourself to the "few" guns (or other objects) that have a lot of reference and information available :enlightened: But that's just my personal opinion of course^^

I hope the things I mentioned above could be usefull!
