We've hit 10 guns! :icon_vince:
Here you can find libraries of gun reference that people have shared, I upload them in a single Mega library and post them here. If you find something useful, make sure to thank those who shared. If you have some reference you can share, please do so. Just leave a link to a download in the comment section and I'll get it put up in the main post.

Great to see people liking the idea.
So dropbox as far as I can tell can't share folders with absolutely anyone, I can create a link which people can view the files inside but you can't edit or add new ones.
Another idea would be for everyone to use their own dropbox to share stuff and we can just share the links here, but it seems very messy and inconvenient.
I tried using Mega which has a whole 50gb of free space but again it seems like you can't edit with just a link. It has options for sharing to individual contacts/emails like dropbox but it also seems a bit messy.
If anyone has any better ideas of how this can be set for easy use, share them.
I use perforce with my friend for hosting our Unreal project which doesn't have a limit to how much you can share, but it needs a PC to actually host it and everyone would also need to get perforce to download/upload and so on so on, so I don't know.

EDIT: So far I'll try to just upload reference to my newly made Mega account and post links on the main post. If you have reference you want to share, just post a link to a download and I'll try to organize it. Thank you to anyone who shares!

My opinion on it is that... (and I hope I don't sound like a party pooper :icon_getmecoat: ) a smart use of google images is really all it takes to gather what I need for any specific project.
Also wherever you want to upload it to would require a super easy search function. Flickr, dropbox or google drive is not really that...

Example: I want to model an Acog scope, well there are a ton of different ones out there. So one folder with all sorts of acog refs in it won't help me. I need to search the specific kind to get all the refs for it.
Once again, google images with all its filter options, being my friend for it. Also when I work on weapons let's say a AR15 then I have the choice between a ton of different rails and looks, but once I decide to roll with certain ones I would narrow my search down for these parts to match my project 1:1. Nothing that would benefit someone else because it's so specific.

I can see a database like that being useful for maybe relics, ww2 and ww1 weapons maybe but these days, there's just too much stuff out there.

Of course I might be proven wrong and I think it's cool you want to establish this as a project so I'll be curious where it goes but the way that I see it is that google images IS the quickest way to get hold of any refs for a project I ever need. :thumbsup_dude:

Yeah I completely understand where you're coming from. There can be lots of variation and especially on the AK I chose, not necessarily every image there is specifically on the AK I chose and maybe someone wants to make a model with a different variation than what I did so maybe it wouldn't be a perfect source of reference. There are lots of variations and in the end you as the modeller decide how to interpret these. But I still feel like there are lots of hidden goldmines on the web for reference which cannot be found quickly or easily through google images and this is mainly the stuff I'd want shared.
For example here in the UK you can't access quite a lot of US only weapon stores, so I accessed quite a few through TOR browser and managed to get some good reference, maybe others do this too, but maybe some people will never come across the images I found because they wouldn't think of or even know about using TOR.
On top of images I also collect lots of useful links which can also be a lot of help, forums, online stores, maybe some hidden Photobucket shots. One of the AK links has a site which lists almost all parts variants for the AK 74 which I didn't find until fairly late into modelling. Maybe not everyone likes to collect links or info like this but I encourage everyone to do. It's been quite a lot of help to me so far and it'll probably help others too.

The SG 550 for example, there are two variants, a civilian version and a military version which are very very similar, but they're not the same and you cannot tell at first sight so maybe the reference I collected would be much better than just going through google images.

Either way, whether you get most of your stuff from google images or not, maybe you'll manage to get a hold of something that's useful for someone, if not then you can speed up the searching process so I encourage everyone to share.

Thanks for sharing! I don't know how accurate the proportions are in the drawings compared to the real life versions as a photo is always best unless there's a tonne of distortion. Though the fictional guns are good for inspiration. I'll add them to the post.

Also adding a dump on the UMP, mainly UMP 45.
