Because Nvidia doesn't sell them directly to anyone, they're sold only by other retailers like MSI, EVGA and so on. They overclock it, they give it a new look and cooling system and sell it for whatever they want. Some will overclock more and bring an overall better performing card, and of course charge more for it. If you can find a 1070 within your price range I'd say definitely go for it.

As you can see even Marmoset eat almost 5Gb of VRAM :)
This something you're working on hi-man? Gotta love a good Pm, especially with some interior shots :xtc_dance:

Thanks Siks ! :)

I will look forward to a 1070. If I couldn't find one, I will definitely choose the MSI GTX 1060 6GB :enlightened:

This is what I am good at so far, https://www.instagram.com/ranula_cgartist/ :)

I would love to make game models as a new skill and I have little knowledge about computer parts. So I have to be ready with enough system specs to deal with workflows. This forum helps a lot ! Thanks all of you for doing great stuff. This will be the first place I'm going to seek help when I come up with problems in doing game art. :)

I have bought PALIT JetStream GTX 1060 6GB (Super JetStream is a better choise but they dont have it in stock when i wanted to buy it). So i recommend to buy nothing smaller than 6GB. I can work with 4k textures with it but at the end when project is big it slowes down a little bit so GTX1070 8GB would be a better choice.

Damn, wonder how I feel then hahaha! How many GB of RAM do you have and what processor? Im going for my first build on march.

Man i am having quite old build so u need to decide for yourself what your next machine would looks like. By the way AMD going ro release a refresh of the Ryzen this year so it may be a good choice for CPU.
As for my specs:
AM3+ AMD FX6300 6 core 3.50 - 4.2Mhz turbo
DDR3 Kingston HyperX Fury 1866 16GB
Here is my open project with 4k textures. As you can see painter gladly uses all types of my memory) So as i said before i am strongly not reccomend to use smaller ammounts than 16\6 gb :)

Maybe you could help me as well. I am about to buy a completely new workstation. When configuring the GPU, I am thinking about getting the GTX 1080 Ti with 11 GB of VRAM. Now I don't really know, if this is too much of an Overkill, or should I spend those extra 300 Euros, when spending so much money anyway. Another option for me would be the norm GTX 1080 with 8 GB.
What do you guys think?
Greetings,
Christoph

300 Euro is quite a lot for just 3GB, so I guess you'd mostly be paying for the extra performance of the Ti. I don't really know anything that could make use of an entire 8GB or VRAM game-wise unless you have a game cranked up to 4k textures on a 4k monitor.
Painter could probably make use of it if you tried and maybe even eliminate most stutter when painting/adjusting stuff, but I think most people already get by pretty well with 6GB. Up to you to consider these things.

Well i personally dont have money even for regular 1080...But in theory if i had the right ammount...why not have the best tech if u can afford it?) It can be an overkill yea but it will warm your soul :)
